Carles Puyol, the defender in Barcelona considered an early retirement, saying that the main reason behind his retirement was an upsetting knee injury.
Puyol is a Spain international and is already 33 years of age has accidentally hurt his left knee last January 22. He just made a comeback, making only several appearances earlier than the ending of the final season. The Spain international had underwent a surgery last month of June and has played an important task, playing more frequently for the team of Barcelona ever since he returned last month.
Moreover, Puyol was caught stating in an interview that he could not find any other solution other than retiring because, according to his statement – he has lost his will and he could not find any interest in playing. He even considered of giving up his favorite game—football.
Last Friday, coach Vicente del Bosque of Spain even called up Puyol for the very first time ever since November to participate in the Euro 2012 World Cup champions qualifying match, which will be held at Czech Republic.
